This is what I expressed when he held the infamous closed door meeting then it took 3 weeks for those in attendance to get permission to go public on this forum with the high points of that meeting. It wasn't a priority then, except to sway our vote from his opponent who was openly pro/carry, and it's still not on his "to do" list. Welcome to the world of red headed step children.

It wasn't a "closed door meeting". It was several guys sitting at a table drinking beer at a fundraiser. There was never any "permission" granted.

Could The Gov be doing more? I think so. But, I can also appreciate that he is acting out of an abundance of caution. We need to continue with polite pressure and support The Gov because the alternatives are really scary.

    It's actually easily explained.

Both chambers of the MGA have veto-proof majorities and are run by gun grabbing politicians who, while not particularly sharp as regards 2A, are excellent politicians. Their influence, campaign cash and ability to control assignments (and to some extent, "career" progress) can buy a lot of votes from the lemmings who are much more interested in re-election and/or a favor than they are in doing what's right.

For much of recent memory (O'Malley and Glendening), Maryland's Governor has been an equally rabid grabber, one of whom was trying to shine up his liberal agenda for a run at the presidency. With all those factors in consideration, it's easy to see how "not losing" is a pretty considerable feat. We could have Ted Nugent in the Governor's mansion, and while things would certainly be different in some respects, the MGA would still be highly motivated to defeat any and all efforts to improve firearm laws in Maryland. How much political capital could even Ted Nugent expect to have if his entire agenda is knee capped by veto overrides at every single turn?

There's no doubt it's frustrating as hell, and it's easy to be pithy and sarcastic about "winning at not losing," but facts are stubborn things.

The cynic in me believes wholeheartedly that if M&M wanted any of those bills to truly pass, one of those bills would have passed.

Instead they made their point by not confirming Jurenga in order to remind us who is in charge. From that standpoint, I believe we actually lost ground.

Mike Miller told me TO MY FACE on the sidewalk in March that the Campus Carry bill was a commonsense "done deal" because he has several granddaughters at the University of Maryland.

Miller made that statement just after this pic was snapped at one of our nighttime Patriot Pickets.

He is the most powerful political figure in Maryland, and something derailed him. Care to guess at what took place between my conversation with him and Sine Die?

Waiting for the "popular" Governor to switch his political standing to Independent, using the pretext of Trump, when/if Trump becomes the nominee by convention time, so he can govern more liberally.
And I don't think it would be due to core convictions, just taking advantage of the opportunity. If Cruz were the candidate (and Cruz is arguably more conservative than Trump), Hogan would be hard pressed to make the change (because he couldn't argue that the GOP has changed greatly).

I've read here that most Facebook posts from people on here about 2A get deleted by staff and don't stay on for very long. I made a simple reply last week and it's still up there. In a post about changes being made by the Governor on May 2nd I replied "How about concealed carry permits for law abiding citizens?"

For years, I've been sending formal complaints (w/ccs to the assistant MD attorney general) to Facebook every time they deleted a conservative-slated article I've posted (never had anything else deleted!). To date, I've received only one response from FB saying they "haven't deleted anything". Trying to get a leftist organization to admit to their deeds is like trying to get a Clinton to admit to theirs.:lol2:

The most effective thing we can do is make Hogan see this as a pocketbook issue. Freeing up MSP resources to track down heroin dealers etc., boosting revenues, and boosting a sense of security around the state. How many places do people avoid in this state for various reasons.

I tried this when he was first elected. I gave him the numbers from Florida and a round about figure of revenue coming into the state, not just from in state holders but from non residents as well. I never heard a word back. :sad20:

This wasn't the only revenue producing idea I sent in but I never got any responses.

I've had the same experience. I guess it takes a 2k donation for an ordinary citizen to get his attention.

Hogan is being a coward and hiding behind a bogus AAG letter. I wrote him a year ago and the response letter I got back said the AG told him he couldn't advise MSP Super to accept Self Defense as G&S.

    Well then, there's everyone's answer.

O'Malley could make administrative changes to/with the MSP,.....Hogan somehow can't.

    Yeah.

Oh I understand completely. The difference is I see we have two choices. Give up and be cynical or push forward and see what we can do. After all, what does it hurt to try?

We didn't get where we are in one day and expecting Hogan to change it all to your favor in one day is unrealistic.

The letter isn't bogus, Hogan's interpretation of the letter is what's bogus.

The letter is 100% accurate in saying MD's governor can not ORDER MSP to change the definition of G&S, because the Superintendant of MSP has sole authority to interpret G&S; nothing bogus about it.

Any day he wants, Hogan can fire Pallosi and interview new candidates for the position and select one that will change G&S to self protection.

    Yeah.

Thank you for your crystal clear observation. A friend worked for Ed Norris while at MSP and says Ed's decisions were pretty liberal, i.e they handed out a lot of permits (shush, with no change in the law)! Go figure . . .

Well here's the key. O'Malley were gun control, so no one in power bitched.
