I always wondered why suppressors are NFA items. I don't agree with it, but I understand the reasoning behind fully automatic firearms. And SBRs and SBSs are NFA because there was once a concern that gun owners could saw down their rifles and shotguns and make them more concealable to avoid handgun regulations. But what's the reasoning behind suppressors? Why wouldn't the law encourage suppressors to cut down on noise?

The Suppressors were added to the list just as the law was going in to be signed, the reason for the addition was it was during the depression and one senator was concerned about poachers using suppressors to take out livestock without the owner knowing.

In other countries it is considered bad manners to discharge you firearm without a suppressor, and they are available at hardware stores for a very reasonable price instead of
    hundreds of dollars.
