... lately so here's an interesting goofy unusual rare pistol to look at ...

MAB Model F .22LR target pistol from the early 1950's.
It represents a departure for MAB from the military and self-defense pistols and was not very successful.

Ed Buffaloe has a good writeup on these:
    http://unblinkingeye.com/Guns/MABF/mabf.html

Mine is the early type, of which roughly 2500-3500 were made.
Production numbers aren't available but Buffaloe estimates less then 30k total, but probably more on the order of 12k to 15k.

I'd never seen or heard of this before I saw it on a JackTheDog auction, and amazingly I got it pretty reasonably to go with my .22 pistols
(it's kind of like a bastard Woodsman Target and a Star Model F).
Maybe someday this will be worth a fortune but they're so uncommon, they aren't really collectible (or valuable, apparently).
This one was about the cost of a rough Woodsman or Hi Standard.

I haven't had a chance to strip it down and check/clean so haven't shot it yet.

That's very cool. Never heard of them but now I want one to keep my Woodsman and High Std company.

Great find. Beautiful condition. Good luck with it.

BTW, if you ever decide you're willing to let it go I have several .22s that would love to have it join our household.

I've never seen a pistol quite like that before. I rather like that swept design and quirky assembly for the slide and barrel. Quite the beautiful find and something I feel we all would enjoy!

Cool pistol. I picked up a MAB Model D in .32 auto last year. It works alright but I probably need a new mag or need to replace the springs as it has function issues sometimes. I wouldn't mind picking up a few other MAB models down the road.
