... lately so here's an interesting goofy unusual rare pistol to look at ...
MAB Model F .22LR target pistol from the early 1950's.
It represents a departure for MAB from the military and self-defense pistols and was not very successful.
Ed Buffaloe has a good writeup on these:
http://unblinkingeye.com/Guns/MABF/mabf.html
Mine is the early type, of which roughly 2500-3500 were made.
Production numbers aren't available but Buffaloe estimates less then 30k total, but probably more on the order of 12k to 15k.
I'd never seen or heard of this before I saw it on a JackTheDog auction, and amazingly I got it pretty reasonably to go with my .22 pistols
(it's kind of like a bastard Woodsman Target and a Star Model F).
Maybe someday this will be worth a fortune but they're so uncommon, they aren't really collectible (or valuable, apparently).
This one was about the cost of a rough Woodsman or Hi Standard.
I haven't had a chance to strip it down and check/clean so haven't shot it yet.
