Picked this up today at the show. Its a HSB Model A( Marlin 19) supposedly dates about 1907, i liked it cause it has the hammer and it breaks down. anyway the buttpad under the limb saver is trash, so ill find one for that, for now i threw the limb saver over the eyesore of a buttpad.

Yeah that's a cool one to have. Always did like the breakdowns. I got my first from my grandfather in a remington model 10. Now I have had several.

    I love it!

I'd prob chop it to 18 inches and rust blue it and sand and re-stain the stock.

Rust bluing leaves a beautiful hue and is fulfilling to see the result.

I want to find an old beater side by side to do this with.

I was thinking the same thing. Give it the trench gun look.

the action on those is weak, if you shoot high pressure loads or maybe any loads at all the bolt can come back out of the action and into your skull. Feel lucky?
    Otherwise neat old gun.
I have never seen one let go but I dont know anyone who shoots one either and I am a vintage shotgun shooter, lots of damascus and hammer doubles.

Yup, got it working, shot some low brass, was offered enough for me to pass it on to a guy who wanted it for its history.
