+1 on BSA. That may not be a "spare" part if it doesn't cock - its a piston. The hook on the rear of the piston engages the trigger mechanism to cock the gun - assuming the mainspring is intact.

Condition and how well it functions will determine it's value. It could be worth a few hundred dollars, possibly more. They made them for a number of years. Of course, the older the better.

    Good Luck!

BSA has been making airguns since 1905 and still rolling. Unfortunately, bought out by Gamo in 1986.

My "handle" on the internet began back in the early days of the net because I had a newly purchased .22 BSA Airsporter/Stutzen and was posting on an airgun forum. Boy, do I regret selling that one - to a really anxious buyer! Still have a lightweight BSA SuperSport - it's a keeper bought at an intro price of $149.

+whatever on BSA. Looks like a "standard" model (variant 1? except the cocking handle is different.) Value depends on condition. 100% is prob a couple hundred bucks. But its far less than that judging by the pics and also in non working cond (so even unknown if all the parts are there) so could be near worthless.

Is it yours? Do yo have in your possession? Length, caliber, serial #, etc could help narrow it down. I have the Blue Book of airguns if given more info to search with.

If anyone knows where to get more info its these guys: www.vintageairgun.com (will redirect to a network54 forum.) Very helpful folks.

Any more markings like on this one?
    http://www.network54.com/Forum/6704...BSA+Light+Pattern+1917+(serial+number+S80127)

And googling "BSA light pattern" turns up an old catalog:
page 18 (marked) or pg 11 in the pdf.
    http://www.rifleman.org.uk/Images/BSA 1909 Catalogue.pdf

The 'L' serial prefix is light pattern (from blue book), and the catalog says it would be 39.25" OAL. So sounds like a match. There appear to be three different stocks (yours, a semi-pistol, and a straight one.) Also 3 different types of underlever latches.

There are some diagrams if you keep googling like this one:
    http://www.airgunspares.com/store/category/64/360/BSA/Std-&-Light-Pattern/

Pretty neat. Ballpark 100yrs old give or take a decade.

    Where they send me.
If you are close to Frederick may be worth it to take it to the show which they have at the Elks there in the fall. Usually one or 2 air gun guys there (if you still have it then).
