Don't know why but I've always liked and wanted a S&W 78G. Found one in an estate auction in NV yesterday and got it for around $135 plus shipping. It hasn't been fired in years so I'll be picking up a new refurb kit to replace the roached seals (roughly $15 on Evil Pay). Love the fact that it's complete with the original box, instructions, cylinders and pellets. Looks unfired! Auction house photos...

Only thing I'd suggest, is to keep the pellets as a treasure and buy new pellets. There's a lot of junk on the pellets that come with the pistol.

    Congrats!

My dad has a 78G inherited from a hunting buddy who passed on. Unfortunately, it's a "leaker" and we've never found the time to fix it.

They're supposed to be solid, accurate guns other than the seals (which I'm sure is a common problem with any air gun).

Let me know how the rebuild goes.

Awesome gun. I have one and did a total reseal, holds pressure move night now.

The job is pretty easy, just lay out the parts and go slow.

If anyone is interested I have one I would sell for 75.00, has it's box. Has a cracked grip and needs resealed. I bought it new when I was a kid.

Finally got around to replacing all the seals this week and she's a solid shooter now. The only difficult part was getting the sleeve for the power adjust system out. Once I figured out how to do that the rest of the job went smoothly.
