Just out of curiosity Alpha, are you married?

'cause if I brought home that much ammo at one time, I would be in the dog house for a long time.

If you order from Wideners do it over the phone, if you don't just keep a close eye on the card you used.

I confirmed by ordering and by asking them, no phone orders have been compromised. My web order was hacked, the phone order wasn't.

Sorry to be off topic, just want to save people the trouble if they haven't heard...

I am using corrosive for back up only. I don't usually put more than 50 rounds down the M44 on an outing. That sh*t starts to hurt! :)

I would think the demand for this caliber would drive more suppliers to start making it.

Point is that everyone with a Mosin should at least get a tin or two, while they still can.
When Yugo and Bulgarian 54r were available at $69 per tin, everyone bought those and passed over the Russian ammo at $80-90 per tin.
Now the Bulgarian and Yugo are pretty much gone and it's mostly the Russian stuff now.
I'm willing to bet that the Bulgarian stuff at Wideners was probably put in the corner several years ago (forward thinking for a big company) and is now selling for half again more than what it was 5 years ago. Big question is....who knows how much of the Russian stuff is really left?

Same thing happened with 8mm Mauser only 5-6 years ago.
Romanian 320 round tins (good polymer coated steel cased ammo on 5 round strippers) were everywhere for $99.
After years of cheap Yugo 8mm Mauser available, folks didn't realize that the Romanian stuff was essentially the last of the surplus 8mm Mauser.
The Yugo stuff dried up (it was cheaper) then followed by the Romanian a year or so later.
Now there are a ton of Mauser owners out there shooting $15 a box Prvi stuff, that wish they had put a few tins in storage.

The Yugo and Bulgarian 54r in bulk has been gone (except for small batches) for a couple years now......see a pattern?

$130ish for a spam can is still a whole lot of fun. I wish I could buy that much (good) 8mm ammo at that price point.

I like my Mosins and if the only ammo available was the commercial stuff I'd buy it. I'd shoot my Mosin's less...but I'd still buy it.
