Mags are expensive and the high cap ones are unreliable.

Stay with RUGER mags. The aftermarket ones are hit or miss. ( followers are prone to tilt)

Love me some Rugers but as reliable as that platform is the mags kill it for me . If they took AK mags I would have bought one long ago .

OK, so back to my original question...plus a new one:
    1. For those of you who have or have had a Ruger Mini Thirty, what do you think about this rifle? Good, bad, or indifferent?
    2. I believe the Sig 556R (an awesome rifle that I once owned) is now no longer legal in the great Socialist State of MD...true or false? tks..s

I wanted one really bad at one point. Then I got my VZ, and now have no interest in it. At all.

VZ is very easy to take apart and clean. I think the only weakness compared to the Ruger are the sights. Otherwise....

Also I hear they are coming out with a chrome lined barrel. That should just about complete the package.

    1. It is a fantastic rifle as long as you have good ammo and good mags. I've shot steel cased out of one before with ZERO issues. The operating system is based of the M1 Garand/M1 Carbine operating system. It is reliable as long as you maintain it.

    2. The Mini-30 is a good rifle but the AR platform is combat proven. It is a toss up and you have to choose what you want.

If it took AK mags, it may have revolutionized the police patrol carbine long before the M4. As it is, they're fun rifles with expensive proprietary mags.

here's what i've read about them, looks like they were cash and carry back in july although it isn't made clear if it still is. try sending gary (hog sniper) a pm and see what he says.

Fortunately the 556R is still legal. The stock would just need to be pinned or the flash hider swapped out.
