    How do you date them?

By the date code letter. In the first post here, the second-to-last photo shows the "P" with star over it just to left of the Eibar shield (on the frame in front of the takedown lever). "P" is the code for 1945. "O" for 1944, etc. (note that the P in a circle is a proof mark used for all years and is on the barrel and slide too). There's a table around here somewhere that lists the date codes per year. Also there's a list of S/N's from factory records that indicate the year they were shipped. It can be found in Dr. Antaris "Star Firearms" book and there is a less detailed (and slightly inaccurate) list out on the interwebs.

As noted, so far all these guns are 1945 ("P" code) from a fairly tight serial range. Interesting mix of blue vs park'd, original wood vs. plastic replacement grips so far.

This arrived tonight from J&G. I'm satisfied. This is a nice piece. Any questions?

Looks like you got a nice one as well. Same year as mine from what I have learned so far. Interesting that it is a different finish than mine. They are fun to shoot!!
