DC may be in for a similar screwing depending on the panel

Not really, IF this gets appealed, it get appealed to the same court that overturned the District Court in Heller and set Precident in Heller. Even further, and the legal folks can correct me, but since the DC Circuit Court set the precedent that the SCOTUS upheld, it will be that much harder for the same court to go against that precedent.

DC is truly between a rock and a hard place. They asked for the same time period that Illinois got to decide their carry laws or appeal. Illinois took all 180 days to do it.

May issue is completely out as the judge called out self defense as a good reason for carry.

Oh, you're quite wrong about that.

    Maryland will never become shall-issue.

Kicking, screaming, yes, and then in the end, they will just ignore the law and say "so sue us" over and over. They have AG and staff of lawyers who can and will lose every case involving carry that is brought before a court... All paid for and funded by you guys who still live there. And when the case is found in favor of the plaintiff, then that plaintiff will get a CCW license.

Do you you really think everyone is going to go to the trouble of of spending multiple tens of thousands of dollars and years in court waiting for a permit?

    Of course not.

Well, you won't, you'll just keep moving as your rights are infringed as opposed to staying and fighting. And then after you move all you will do is badmouth those that stay and fight.

At some point, if MD is told to change its licensing scheme for carry and they don't they can be held in contempt and fined for each day they refuse to abide by the ruling. So no, not a constant train of lawsuits, just a couple well placed lawsuits at the right time(s).

NJ, NY, and MD may never fall unless it is done at the State level. The Fed see's MD's law as regulating CC, not banning it.... G&S is what is keeping most from getting a CC in MD. With that said, what can be done in Annapolis in 2015? Who will be the next Mike? Not trying to go off topic, but what is the next step for MD?

Next step is elections in November, then we start working on the next step after that, which is who can we work with.

Different courts. DC, being a federal territory is part of the federal circuit. Maryland is part of the 4th.

The court did rule in favor of MD.

Also different cases. MD had a may issue both IL and DC had total bans.
Not to nitpick but DC is part of the DC Circuit, cases appealed from the US District Court in DC are appealed there.

But your gist is dead on. Maryland is in the 4th Circuit, i.e., a different court.

G&S is our "Separate but Equal".

Our version of May Issue is Jim Crow for gun owners.

How can we get that point across? Apparently a white person isn't allowed to use the Jim Crow card.

Depends on who you're talking to... If you're talking to a squishy lib, it's easy to make them sound racist, which may just make them feel guilty enough to care. Afterall, gun control in Maryland IS historically rooted in racism (see link below), gun violence in Maryland DOES disproportionately affect black people, black people in Maryland are categorically denied the right to defend themselves (along with everyone else that isn't rich or politically connected), and even if they could, just like the old poll taxes in the post-war south, ridiculous multi-hundred dollar fees preclude the poor from exercising their constitutional rights.

    Better than 180 I guess.

Just enough time for the DC council to maybe make a mistake and pass something that starts to recognize the basic human right of self defense. And that's why the stay wasn't opposed: it was going to happen in one form or another no matter what, and in this form, it leaves more interesting opportunities.
