Sadly, it will probably result in more apathy rather than energize our people for next time. :sad20:

Gotta agree, didn't see Mike's signs anywhere until a few weeks ago, Ghrist's were everywhere.

Caroline has not had representation for some time and should. Hell all the counties should have representation as they used to with one senator for each county, but that is another story. Now it looks like a strong possibility that Cecil county won't have representation. That's bad, the population is likely larger there than Kent and Caroline put together...just guessing on population, but it seems right.

Keep in mind the re-districting this year. I live in Cecil, but Mike Smigiel was not on my ballot. Parts of Cecil County belong to D35A and D35B.

Also wanted to add that in my district, 35A, we elected Kevin Baily Hornberger. I've spoken to him a lot, although I will admit I did not vote for him. I am happy with him as our delegate. He is very pro 2A, not just a hunter. Supports carry etc.

I have nothing against him. I will reach out and work with him..with out hesitation.. time will tell. But in private I can give you more insight... mike was a hammer... don't always need a hammer but when you do you do. Now we move on. Foward if possible , but on nevertheless.

An interesting comment from someone whose avatar says "It is your duty as an American to own a gun and know how to use it."

How so ? I am not a 1 issue voter so how does my avatar come into this ? Liberals who want to take our rights should also own a gun and know how to use it

True that the DINO movement didn't have better results but Smiegel losing makes the pain less

Makes me wonder how many District 36 Republicans registered as Democrats for this election and may have cost Smigiel primary votes?

Not sure but I can say that if I wasn't a DINO Grist would of had 2 more votes ( wife is a DINO too)

Who the **** are these people that beat him? Are they legit? RINOs? Dem plants? Smigiel stirred up a lot of shit, in a good way. What the **** gives?

Jacobs has been around almost as long a Mike has for District 36.

Arantz is a good guy as well, he got appointed to fill Hershoey's seat last session when Hershey got appointed to fill EJ Pipken's seat after EJ resigned and moved to Texas.

Ghrist - I have no clue, newcomer for this election.

This would only be Jacobs' second term coming up I believe. He won when the previous Kent Co delegate retired - I think her name was Walkup

Arentz was appointed to fill Hershey's QA County delegate slot. Hershey was appointed by O'Malley to take over EJ Pipkin's Senate seat. What happened there is the counties deadlocked at 2-2 on Hershey or Smigiel so O'Malley got to pick. He's loving this I'm sure.

Ghrist is a Caroline Co commissioner and a good solid conservative. Only 38 years old. I think he will be an excellent delegate but not the fighter Mike was.

If we can't even reward people like Smigiel for being our voice when no one else would I really have doubts about the future of gun rights in MD. Our response to SB281 was "they'll feel it come election time". I know we're a minority but I thought that we could accomplish something somewhere.

I will echo the sentiments of my fellow District 36 residents: nothing against Ghrist, but Smiegel was a good man in a storm - and proved it year after year. It is also sadly true that he had precisely zero presence in the campaign. The reality of this year is that I think we will see a repeat of 2010 and the "if you're in, you're out" attitude that saw incumbents go wholesale. I generally agree with that attitude - and I hate career politicians, but some incumbents should not get blamed for failed policies. Mike could not have done any more than he did to represent his district. As with Ghrist, I have no problem with Arentz, Hershey, etc. - but they are too much the PC politician, and not enough the in-your-face, this-is-my-belief, and ****-yourself-with-an-iron-stick-if-you-don't-like-it type of representation that needs to exist in that Tammany Hall of Annapolis. That said, let Frosh and Brown lose and I will not mourn so much for Mike's loss. Oh, and DINOs had nothing to do with it in 36, it was Caroline County being po'd that they hadn't had a delegate in a longggg time.

I was disappointed in Smigiel's advertising in key parts of Queen Anne's County.
In one of the heavy populated areas, yesterday, I saw no signs.

It is not true that he had zero presence....he simply wouldn't put up signs on people's property without permission, like soooooooo many did. It's not who is is. We made the calls and finally, I realized that so many property owners had signs on their property from people who didn't even ask, they weren't going to give anyone permission who did ask. Can't blame them but we weren't going to play it that way.

Michael was at many events. He sent out two mailers, did his own live person phone bank. NRA mailed for that race and did a robo call. Md Liberty PAC mailed and did a facebook ad for him. He got the endorsements, too.

Ghrist is not a bad guy. In fact, he's a very nice man. He's no Smigiel though...there is only one of those.

We'll talk more on the show tonight but I didn't want to leave you all with the impression he didn't fight for his seat.

    See you tonight!

So. You think politics is like selling soap.? If so reap what you sow...and if fact I think maybe Mike is a winner of sorts after all.

" I am not a bar of soap and will market myself as such..". Perfect..

This is a dark day in so many ways. I can't believe our biggest cheerleader in state government has been defeated. We turned out in record numbers numerous times in Annapolis only to be ignored by the elite liberals. We wrote letters, emails, & placed phone calls to no avail. Now our leader in Annapolis has been silenced. My local picks in Carroll County have lost. I worked the polls, placed signs, even pasted one on my truck for all to see. Even if we don't accept defeat it emboldens our adversaries, as our "we'll remember in '14" refrains ring hollow now.

Only, I for one will not give in. I'll continue to support those that are sympathetic to our cause. I'll continue to support my local FFLs until those purchases are deemed illegal. I'll do what I can to educate whoever allows it about the rights all of us have & continue to lose. And most important of all, I will not register nor allow to be confiscated anything I have.
