The three on the left would *probably* be Daggers, pushing then into the inherently dangerous catagory along with Bowie Knives and switchblades. You could argue that the one on the right is a "mere" fixed blade , citing the single edge.
Thanks, that's what I was thinking too. Mostly because the don't fold. And I agree, someone might make a case that a double sided blade is a dirk, which is specifically prohibited.
Then again if one has a CCW permit, they can carry 'other' weapons legally.
Something needs clarifying here. State law mentions "dirk" "bowie" "switchblade" and "star knife," but you have to remember it only says these are illegal to carry concealed. There is no law against open carry of any edged weapon.
As a general rule, MD LEOs lump all concealed fixed blades into "dirk" or "bowie," only making exceptions under very rare circumstances and I tell you why: If they are searching you and find a fixed blade, they already dislike you, and the knife is a convenient excuse.
Conceal carry a large folding knife, they're legal and one with a "wave" style blade will open immediately as you pull it out making it almost as fast as having a fixed blade.
