Looking for a pistol for the girlfriend. I would like a sub-$500, reliable piece. Used is okay. A Glock LE trade in is ideal (she is familiar with Glocks) but I'm open to SIG, M&P, Ruger, Walther, or other older reliable designs.

Only two requirements is sub-$500 and reliable.

    Thanks!

S&W 5906, they can be had for less than $500 with a little looking around. Rock solid dependable American Steel. None of that plastic stuff for me, thank you very much. But, might be too big and/or heavy for the GF. It's not a pocket pistol.

Given any thoughts to a KAHR CW9?

They can be had new for enough below your price point to get some ammo while you're at it. Not sure if it fits her needs/desires, but they might be worth a look and/or test fit.

    I just got a Ruger P95.

I looked at many others, but decided this would be a good, reliable gun to learn on. And way cheaper than the competition. I figure I can spend the extra benjamins on ammo and training.

It might be a little fat for a smaller woman's hand, though.

    Excellent suggestion!

Honestly, I didn't understand the love some people had for them until I put one in my hand and then I had to buy the damn thing. Unless you want or have to have something with higher capacity, they're hard to beat IMHO.
