My check has 71996'A on the front bottom right of the check, does that mean I'm first in line :lol2: or does it have something to do with the app/file number

Have you ever applied (been denied) before?

This number has me a little anxoius. There were dozens of "81,XXX" in a row, then mine, which is foreign.... (69236A)

Probably indicates you are going to get the An*l probe in the interview process..:spank:

Shoot, that's what the "A" stand for??? I was hoping for something a little more personal than this cheesy phone conversation. :sad20:

They used to call you into the barracks, sit you in an interrogation room. It was quite the experience, make you feel as if you've done something wrong by even ATTEMPTING to get a permit.

Just received my initial call from Sgt Jones (MSP) to ask some questions and verify information. He was friendly and professional and stated that they are waiting for further information from the courts.

Did they write the number over top of the numbers at the bottom of your checks? I can't read it on my image. Looks like they wrote over the numbers of the check.

Were you asked the "Interview" questions cited earlier on this thread?

Here's mine, (yes, it's girls writing) My chicken scratch is barely legible. I let her write out things that are important.

Not sure. I'll have to go find those questions and see.

My wife called me to say they had also called her. They asked her 3 questions:
    1. If she knew of any instances of domestic abuse
    2. already forgot the second one
    3. If she had any issues with me receiving a permit to carry. Thankfully, she said no.

Below are some of the questions that have been asked of others; how about you?:
    1. Why do you want a permit?
    2. Have you been threatened?
    3. Do you have a permit from another state? Asked for the permit number. Asked how many States it was valid in.
    4. Have you ever seen a psychiatrist?
    5. Have you or do you use drugs?
    6. Do you drink rarely, socially or heavily?
    7. Have you been arrested?
    8. Have you ever been charged with domestic violence?
    9. Do you have firearms in your house?
    10. What kind of guns?
    11. Are you married, single or divorced?
    12. Can I speak with your wife?

And any other questions you could shed light on.
    Thanks!

He did not ask numbers 1 and 2.
He did ask to verify my SSN and DOB
He also asked if I was a designated collector
Asked about current employment and date of same
He did ask about other permits, but no what states they were valid in. Instead, he asked about the permit number and expiration date.
All other questions you listed are accurate to what he asked me.

Well, then you were officially interviewed, I'd say. They likely called your 3 references as well.

Perhaps they're treating the more conservative Cecil County folks a little differently. :D

Please don't take this as singleing out navycraig, but if you post about being interviewed could we also include the date your application was received by MSP.
I'm trying to figure out how long from receipt of application to interview.
Mine was received on the 14th, and as of today they still have not chashed my check. just trying to get a grasp on the order they are interviewing.
Guess I'll have to chalk it up to being in Garrett County.:innocent0

I would not get too worked up about the numbers on the checks. It looks to me like it is cash receipt number used for internal accounting purposes.

MSP handles more than just Handgun Permits. They are probably lumping all cash receipts together for processing.

Can't really explain the change in number other than they may have decided to use a different bank account or have a different person handle the processing.

Check was cashed on Tuesday (3/21) and had my interview today. Very quick, very straitforawrd. Basically askedeverything that was already on the application. They did call my wife and my three references. They did not however ask for my boss' number. Whole interview took maybe 5 minutes.

Now we just wait for the stay ruling....
