Anyone who shoots trap or skeet can tell you how easily you can miss with a shotgun. I should know, I've missed a lot since I started in 6th grade.

No serious smith is going to be offended at not getting this job.

BTW, if you have ever hunted geese before you would know that its very easy to miss with a shotgun, even if the target if flying right towards you and 10 yards away.

That's why I don't hunt geese. Sneaky little bastards.

Hard enough to hit the four legged prey that's standing still.

I do understand where you're coming from though.

Maybe the OP could opt for just a large white bead front sight and skip the rear sight.

The short 870 barrels I looked at were in that configuration. I'm just partial to the rifle sights on a shotgun like this

They are great sights. IMO Ghost Ring are faster but that's a preference thing and they will cost ALOT more to add. I say use what you have.

Rifles sights definitely look better and would afford you an extended range with lead slugs if needed.

Was just trying to help out on the cost end of things.

Enjoy your build and post pics.

I appreciate that. This would qualify as a budget build. I'm thinking that I'd keep the wood stock set and refinish it to save cash for one. I do want to refinish it though as well as keep the original sights. I'm figuring $250 for the cerakote, $125 for the barrel/sight work, and the $200 stamp.
