Best Cheap Reactive Targets?

In y'alls opinion, what makes the best/most fun target to shoot? Putting holes in paper is all well and good but sometimes it's nice to have a bit of reaction in your target.
I enjoy empty beer bottles, bulk buys of cheap store brand soda cans (shake 'em up first for a bit more explosiveness), and other odds and ends. However, these leave quite a mess so I am looking for some things that are just as fun to shoot that can be had for cheap, or even better, free!

Pool cue chalk... they are small and can be a challenge at longer distances but you know when you hit one.

Golf balls, get big bag of used from the big stores. The old ones with rubber bands are a lot more fun though.

Chipmunks react well to 8mm Mauser rounds.

As do aerosol paint cans.

And pumpkins.

When shooting .22LR at 50 yards, I have a cross bar on my target frame that I stand empty shot shells on.

Seconded. Guts all over the place. Also remarkably challenging to hit at range.

Fill the pumpkins with water before shooting them. They are mostly hollow and don't expand well without help. I like to use orange food color to give it a nice orange spray.
12 gauge buckshot and hollow point slugs should give good results.
If you are not in the Peoples Republic of Maryland Tannerite will give excellent results on carved pumpkins.

Mostly empty spray paint cans, sidewalk chalk, Peeps, drywall mud molded in ice crube trays.
