I respect the guy, don't get me wrong. He really has been a stand up guy.

It's just that I can somehow imagine Ms. Dumais reading his letter in the HJC as a justification for amending the list of banned firearms to expand it.
    Agreed,

    It's almost like...shhhh.

These are all valid points but instead of keeping them here, let's respond to the Sun with cogent support of his article with data and facts

So how long did this guy oversee the licensing division? Why'd he take the job in the first place if he had such strong, personal convictions against what they were doing? Why'd he spend a career working for an agency that was actively denying citizens their rights, if this is how he really feels? Have any of these questions been asked? Am I missing something and totally wrong for posing these questions?

All been asked and answered. He did not think a whole lot about the 2A before becoming commander. Was always a supporter, but in a casual manner. He thought he may be able to make a difference and he tried. Discussion with 2A advocates like our own Patrick and John Josselyn opened his eyes more. He wrote this himself in a public place. I'm not sure how many years he was head of the licensing division, but I'm sure you can easily google that.

He wasn't the Commander of the licensing division that long (months, not years), but he initiated many of the modernization efforts in place today that result in processing taking days, not weeks or months.

I have few complaints about his efforts or his character.

Watch this to learn about the most incompetent man in Maryland:

You then have to watch him in real live action:

Then check this out for the rest of the story:

Ummm, what does this have to do with this thread and Jack McCaulley?

When you are in a command position at MSP you go where they send you. It's not like he asked for that division to oversee. Very seldom does a captain get to pick which division he/she commands. Don't doubt his 2A stance for a second.

Ummm, what does this have to do with this thread and Jack McCaulley?

Read the anti-Brown article by Jack McCaulley, the recently former Commander of the Maryland State Police Licensing Division - my brother, it will become crystal clear:

Article Title: O'Malley, Brown are kidding themselves with the 2013 Firearms Safety Act [Letter]

    Source: http://touch.baltimoresun.com/#section/-1/article/p2p-81577939/

"Don't be fooled by Lt. Gov. Anthony G. Brown and Gov. Martin O'Malley when they tell you they have passed an assault weapons ban in Maryland ("Brown: I will enforce gun safety law," Sept. 4). Governor Martin O'Malley and Lieutenant Governor Brown boast that they have made the public safe by, "Banning the sale of 45 types of assault weapons (including the AR-15) and certain copycats." Let's take a look at the truth."

The last thing I want is more gun laws. I can and have proposed hundreds of suggestions that will reduce crime. I am completely opposed to the Firearms Safety act of 2013. I retired from the State Police, giving up the only life I had known since I was 18, so that I could educate our citizens on the true causes of violence. I took an oath of office to protect our Constitution. As the Commander of the State Police Licensing Division, I could not do that. One news article, one letter does not even begin to define the problems the Office of the Governor has caused in Maryland. I have chosen to fight amongst the men and women and help preserve their rights.

    Jack,

Thanks for your comments here and in the other thread you started. Looking forward to some views from a different perspective (i.e. not outside looking in :))
