Can i purchase a banned firearm out of state and have an out of state FFL keep the firearm until I am no longer a resident?

    From Title 29
    DEPARTMENT OF STATE POLICE
    Subtitle 03 Weapons Regulations

    Generally.
    A. This chapter restricts the sale, rental, transfer, purchase, receipt, possession, and transport of regulated firearms and
    assault weapons in the State

    No
The Feds will only let them sell you a firearm that is legal for you to purchase in your home state.

No, you cannot purchase a pistol outside your state of residence. Federal Law.

And it would have to be on the MD Handgun Roster to be sold to an MD resident.

Best you could do is to pay him to hold it, until you move to that state.

Thanks, I thought it would be ok since I am not taking possession of the firearm until I am a legal resident of that state. I am just paying for it.

The question would be if layaway is "purchasing."

Might work. I would just see if the shop will take a nice deposit to hold it for you.

But is it so rare that you will not be able to buy one when you move?

No, it is not that rare but it is a good deal. I have seen some good deals lately. Layaway is not an option and I wouldn't do it since it is in a grey area.

I messed up by not buying one before the ban. My plan was to wait and get the couple things I wanted as SBRs when prices came back to normal. Then the whole SBR is a handgun and a assault long gun thing happened. Screwed up my plan.
I could make the plan work if I were willing to get an HQL but no way I am getting fingerprinted.
