    January 19th, 2011
Today, the ATF announced at the 2011 SHOT Show that a new ruling would be issued on Monday, January 24, 2011, regarding the importability of certain shotguns. ATF informed the audience at the ATF Townhall meeting that they wanted to ensure that they were properly and justly enforcing the requirements of a shotgun being for a “sporting purpose.”

Well there go the prices on Saigas

Not that I really wanted one before, but if I could find one before Jan 24th, I just might buy it.

That would be a huge can of worms.

A lawsuit vs. "Sporting Purpose" against the ATF.

If it's a win on our side will that nullify all of the 1986 laws out?

Damnit. We all knew that it was only a matter of time until they found out about the Saiga 12. I kind of wanted one, but not if they become NFA items and the price triples.

Let's all get ready for another exciting round of panic buying!

"People who wish you defenseless often claim that effective defensive rifles and shotguns have "no legitimate sporting use". Would they consider defense of your family from an attack to be un-sporting? Remind them that the concept of a "sporting use" comes from their spiritiual forebears, the Nazis. Those thugs determined that trying to stay out of a concentration camp was not a legitimate use of arms, while hunting women and children for sport was."

What's the deal with the Saiga 12?

Just a semi that looks like an AK. Or are we making laws because they look scary? Kinda sucks having to pay 2k for a Saiga now.

Its because of the 20 round drums available. There was ALOT of pissed off people when they were developed, this opened BATFE's eyes and now they will reclassify them.

So should we buy them? What will happen? Any educated guesses?

Banned Importation almost assured. Get one now IMHO if you want one.

There is a possible reclassification to Destructive Device like the Street Sweepers. BATFE will forgo the $200 manufacturing for the D.D., but it will have to have a Tax Stamp if they get their way.
