I'm interested in picking up one of their Texas Defenders.... Just seems like I ought to have one or two of those around :)

Continental and White Marsh arms have a few. I was looking at them a while back, never found one to try out, but I imagine recoil would be stout. They seem sturdy, basically the hammer has a little sliding plate that automatically toggles between barrels, and will switch back and forth every time it is cocked, the trigger is no peach, it feels like a gritty 10lbs.

One of my cousins has one with the .45/410 barrels. I shot some 410 shells and talk about some recoil.... felt like a horse kicked me in the hand. (Oh yeah and wear ear protection, I couldn't hear for a while after that) :D

I've heard the trigger has a learning curve, if you don't pull it the "right" way it feels heavy (actually 10lbs is exactly what I've heard it feels like if you pull it the "wrong" way)... they say when you get it figured out and pull it the "right" way it's more like 3-4 lbs.

Although a learning curve like that sounds strange I'm still intrigued by these little guys.

I have a Texas defender with the .38/.357 and .410/45 long Colt barrels. I've shot 410, .38's and .357 through it, a few rounds each on two different occasions.
It isn't fun to shoot and some part of my hand is usually bleeding afterwards.
I've always said its more of a conversation piece.

Yikes, that doesn't sound fun at all.. where does it usually bite you?

Its a repressed memory, but somewhere on the thumb.
I'll bring it to the next shoot if you want to try it.
Bring a band aid, but its just a flesh wound.

Get a bigger handle grip. Even the medium three finger handle is small, but manageable.

The poor man's substitute. I've never shot one of those Bond Arms derringers but I'd venture to say that this is a lot more pleasant.

IIRC,the only ones on the roster/ Md approved have trigger guards. Is that correct?
