Yeah me either. I do wish they would finish the damn Corridor H, it would cut 90 minutes off my trip home. That is a big difference if you want to try and make the drive on just a weekend.

I think I've said it before on here... that road was supposed to be done in time for me to go away to college.

Corridor H is a nice highway though, you have to admit that. It sure beats old 55 as far as just cruising goes.

Hop on at Wardensville, and my exit at Patterson Creek. I only ever see like 2 dozen cars on the entire 30 mile stretch. Not sure how busy it will be when finished.

It's a waste of money. Wait until they open the stretch in Virginia to I-81 (if ever) and all the crime and crap that D.C. crowd coming down I-66 will bring. All that highway will do is spoil a beautiful natural remote area.

As you can tell I am adamantly against Corridor H! :D

Everyone keeps telling me VA doesn't want it, we will see. I like 48, it really makes the ride easier for me, I always have a 4 wheeler in tow with a lot of other weight in my truck, old 55 with its windy and slower roads versus setting the cruise control.

lol, I've never seen the show (don't have cable, just internet + Netflix & Amazon streaming)... but not really from what I read on Wikipedia, lol!

I'm in Wood Co, where Parkersburg is the county seat. 50 is a blast on a bike for being a 4 lane, though it's the primary moneymaker for Ritchie and Doddridge County cops, lol. We used to run it all the time for a daytrip from Elkins... ran down to Snowshoe, through Cass and Greenbank for an afternoon/evening run. I miss my scoots! :sad20:

Your daytrips went right through most of my favorite areas in West Virginia (also fond of Davis/Thomas areas near and including Blackwater Falls and the Seneca Rocks Areas). My Dad was born in Arbovale. The house he was born in is within sight of the Greenbank Radio Telescopes. I had the pleasure of hunting on Back Mountain nbehind Cass for a number of years and also went with some locals on a farm next to the Observatory a couple times. Some of the locals send guys unarmed onto the Observatory to push deer off the Observatory property back onto their hunting areas on the nearby private land. Still have a few distant cousins (2nd) who live in Arbovale, Marlinton and Elkins areas

With ole pork barrel Byrd gone might be another 15 yrs before they're even close...especially since because of gun issues and coal issues the state has been moving from Blue to Purple and maybe now red.

They had to redo the routing for one of the final stretches, last I checked it's not even slated to open construction on the section from Parsons to Thomas for years. The environmental surveys held it up.

My uncle was the state road boss in Elkins, it was supposed to be done before he retired too, that didn't happen. If they finish that Davis to Mt. Storm stretch next summer I guess it will be close enough to done for me. I know a nice back way from Stephen's City out past Lebanon Church that puts me out almost at the WV line on 55.

    Here you go...Parsons to Davis:

    October – December 2013 Status:

After discovering evidence of the West Virginia Northern Flying Squirrel, a Federally Endangered Species, the WVDOH completed additional environmental investigations throughout the 10-mile area between Parsons and Davis in Tucker County.

The Supplemental Draft Environmental Impact Statement (SDEIS) on the segment was approved on December 4, 2002. A public hearing was held February 6, 2003 at the Blackwater Lodge in Davis. Comments were due by April 22, 2003. The Thomas and Davis City Councils had an additional 60 days (until September 30, 2003) to review the preferred alternative recommendation. The Supplemental Final Environmental Impact Statement was approved by the Federal Highway Administration on February 2, 2007, and comments regarding the SFEIS were due August 1, 2007. A Reevaluation of the SFEIS is underway and the Amended Record of Decision (AROD) is expected in 2014.

Final design of this segment through Tucker County is anticipated to begin in 2025. Construction tentatively is scheduled to begin in 2031.

Interesting, you must take the route I do. I sometimes go down 81 from Stephens City, but if you go straight through Stephens City staying on Marlboro Road (631), make a left on Middle Road (628) where it ends, at the power lines are, drive down Middle road about 5 miles then hang a right at the Church, merge onto John Marshall Highway and that takes you up and then down into Wardensville?

    LOL

I believe most of the Napoleon Dynamite actors are from CA. I can't really think of an equivalent movie written, directed by, and starring marylanders. Wait, yes I can:

Just to be clear, living in WV is utterly horrible, so marylanders should stay in their socialist utopia and not migrate to a place where there is no cell phone reception and there's no cops around when you don't need them.

They actually have a few planned culls going on to thin the herds.

Were you also aware of the number of years it got held up by the hippies planting "Civil War Artifacts" and signs of endangered species? :sad20:
