I am lefty and all of my guns are right hand design except my AR15. I have shot right handed AR15 but decided that i wanted to buy the left hand model (STAG 2L). My shotgun is a pump as well as my rifle for hunting.

Another Stag lefty owner! :party29: I took a lot of crap for that. BUT, to be honest, I have since gone "righty" and have had no issues.

It is funny when people walk by at the AGC. They look, and appear confused. That's an AR, but but but ......

I'm lefty, left-eyed dominant. I shoot exclusively lefty.

Never had an issue with ejected shells. I've gotten so used to manipulating controls with my index finger, I wouldn't know what to do with ambi or lefty controls.

My 13 year old daughter is interested in learning how to shoot and hunt, and she is a lefty. I've been looking for a youth 20 gauge and maybe a .22. The choice of LH firearms especially youth models has been much more limited than I expected. Are there any lefties out there that shoot right handed guns, and does the discharge of shells or other issues cause problems?

My wife is left eye, right handed. She shoots pistol right handed but shotgun and rifle left. She recently took the ladyseed course and bought herself a 10/22. The salesman tried to get her to order a left headed version, so that is apparently an option.

13 yr old is a lefty.... when he was much younger, bought a Rossi single shot 22 (break action) for him... at the time he was jumping back and forth between left and right... great beginner rifle.. saved for grandkids now.

Welp, if you're interested in dropping a ton of money. Ceasar Guerini has a line of made to fit women's guns branded under the name syren. They're absolutely gorgeous.

Another lefty here. Always used "standard" stuff, starting with a Marlin 25 at about 12. Only issue I've ever had was with a KT Sub2000, the blowback was pretty annoying and eye pro was a must.

    I'm the true anomaly.

    Ambidextrous

Grew up shooting righty, because we had righty rifles.

Later learned I'm left eye dominant.

Haven't felt the need to switch since I don't do any precision shooting.

    My two suggestions:

For the .22, consider a standard Ruger 10/22 or the Ruger 10/22 takedown. The 10-round magazine loads from the bottom, so there are no left/right issues. An old school pump .22 with a tubular magazine would work as well. There are a lot of Savage/Sears brand old .22s around if you look on gunbroker.

EDIT: It just occurred to me that the brass eject on the right side, so there is the potential for a lefty to take a hot brass to the face.

For a shotgun, consider an Ithaca Model 37 Featherlight in 20 gauge. A model 37 in 12 was my first gun (although I was 20 at the time) and I still love it. It loads from the bottom. In fact, I think one reason it was designed that way is so police departments would buy them, but I could have my facts confused there. Use target loads until she's able to shoot without flinching.

I'm left handed and shoot left handed . I have had a 10/22 since I was 7 . I never had a issue shooting it or catching cases. Most guns can be shot left handed. I shoot a right handed bolt gun and never take my kept hand off of the stock. Once ur use to it it's so much faster to shoot that way.

Ended up getting a Legacy Escort 20 gauge semi-auto youth model lefty version. She's getting the hang of it.

While left-handed, I mostly shoot right-handed. I can shoot handgun with either hand, but more confortable shooting right. must be the eye thing.

I cannot ever remember shooting a rifle or shotgun left handed, but that probably exceeds my record of child hood memories. I'll have to try my rifle left handed on my next outing, I might actually hit something :)

I golf left handed, and if I tried to eat or write with my right hand, I would poke out my eye with the fork, or pencil.

At a young age, I say train her for both !

Check her eye dominance. I'm left handed, but right eye dominate, so I shoot better right handed. My wife is left handed to, insists she's left eye dominate, so she shoot's left handed. She doesn't have much choice on shooting right handed guns. She hasn't had any problems with any hand guns and only fired one AK without incident.

I second this post. I'm right handed and grew up shooting rifles right handed. When i was about 20 the vision in my right eye started to get real bad due to a eye condition. I loved shooting rifles so much, I taught myself to shoot rifles left handed. I still shoot my handguns right handed, but use my left eye. I refuse to use left handed rifles and shot guns. I also don't refuse to use ambi controls. The reason is because I want to be able to pick up standard (right handed) rifles and shotguns and use them with ease. But I cant stand shooting AKs left handed for some reason.

I'm a lefty . Been shooting since I was 4. Always shot right handed guns. Only exceptions were Aug and Msars. I every blue moon I get a case that gets close. But its never bothered me. The mp5 SD would cover my face with soot but never caused me to stop shooting it. I use my index finger to operate the controls. Wouldn't have a clue on a ambi or left handed gun.
