    I wouldn't be worried about trying to shoot it...I would be more concerned about if it was loaded or not. A lot of old ones still are loaded and to check you need to insert the rod and hold a thumb and finger at the muzzle and then hold the rod next to the barrel to see if it goes full length. If not there may be a load in the gun still.

    It's not loaded, I checked that immediately....ram rod goes all the way into the barrel and sits flush at the end when inserted

    Also- don't think it's ever going to be shoot-able because the hammer doesn't even lock back and engage the trigger
