A friend of a friend has a carbine with this stamped on it.

Can anyone tell me anything about it?

It would be a BIG HELP if there were pics of the entire gun with any and all markings depicted in those pics. The Chinese (Formosa I believe) made a copy of the M1 Carbine way back when. IIRC, the rear adjustable sight was definitely a different variant of any U.S. made rear adjustable sight. I do believe I can tell if it's a Chinese gun jus' by the rear sight providing the rest of the gun follows suit.

Wow. Korea puts cool prizes in the soap boxes.

Man, I wish when I was a young lad Cracker Jacks would have neato prizes in their boxes like that!!!!! The best prize I got out of one was a tiny cheap-assed magnifying glass that I used to burn ants and other bugs with on the sidewalk. A friend of mine used it to start a BIG fire in the woods with it in the same manner; it took 3 fire engines to put out that inferno.
