Coworker of mine in a free state is looking at spending 700 on just a rifle. His only wants or needs are flat top upper so he can put on an vortex strike eagle or the like later on down the road. I'm going to look at Psa and price some things out and see what the local shops have down here have on the shelf but it never hurt for some other eyes and opinions.

So 14.5 or 16" upper, flat top and be milk jug acurate at 200 and man size target at 500. Thoughts, ideas, opinions, or deals are welcome.

He has magazines and some gear already, I've got some flip ups to hold him over. So he has 700 for a rifle.

Down at Blue Fins we have some 16" PSA HBARs that are just the ticket.
Free float tubular handguard with keymod attachment points, midlength gas system and 1/7 twist barrel.

in NC he has more options seeing as that is in the USA. windham weaponry is a high quality basic rifle.

i would suggest something like this

    http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/...ts_id/5162/WIND+R16DA4T+DISSIPATOR+16+HVY+30R

thats pretty close to the 700 spot. (and MD legal.... the M4 profile barrel is an extra 8 bucks or so at buds.) my credit card is too close to my keyboard right this moment...

    or an S&W M&P 15

you won't find a new colt at 700. the Del-ton is a solid rifle right around 700 as well.
