    Here's what the law doesn't say possess...it says "receive":

    Look at the sentence right before your last bolded one. It says 'possess'.

    That said, given a lack of definition of 'possess', Name Taken's advice is duly taken and subsequently ignored for lack of specificity or legal grounding. (BTW, none of this applies to me.)

    There are also state laws that regulate and mimic the federal laws.

    You cant hunt with a firearm, you cant own them, you cant go to the range, you cant have one in the vehicle, you just cant.

    It's kind of simple. Not sure why we over think this stuff.

    Even having firearms that are stored by another occupant of the same residence can be construed as "constructive possession" by said felon.

    I know that ranges (one in particular) have the ability to do a quick BG check on people who are honest (dumb?) enough to check "yes" on the form or ask a question relating to a previous conviction.

    Whether they do it on all visitors......idk.
