Hi guys! New to the forum but not new to firearms. I'm a huge 1911 buff and 1911 grip maker. How many of you are also 1911 guru's? Look forward to chatting. :)

Since you don't have access to the "Water Cooler" yet, there is a whole permanent thread there called 1911 porn. Until you get 50 'legitimate' posts, I would suggest you check out the Gallery 1911 section. You'll find most of the 1911 affectionados have numerous photos there.

Welcome to MDS . See about becoming an IP , so you can tell us all about your grips.

Greg and Dave will be by shortly with the usual links.

    Previously had a 1920's production Commercial A1 . Once of the pre-Oct 1 newcomers is a 1970's Combat Commander w/ Coltgaurd finish.

And a .22lr "Colt" 1911 . Up to you if that "counts" , but I like it on its own merits either way.

Over here too. Got converted from the polymer guns, but can still appreciate both guns. First handgun ever fired was a Les Baer 1911, and first ever bought was a heavily customized Remington R1 1911. Looking to get another 1911 either Springfield Armory Loaded parkerized or light weight operator. Though debating getting a polymer gun just for contrast.

    Hello and welcome!

I'm not much of a 1911 fan, don't get me wrong, they can be awesome guns and I enjoy shooting them from time to time.

You'll enjoy some of the "water cooler" threads, but you posted this in the right spot.

At Berwyn we have a contest a few times a year; 9mm vs .45. Most if not all of the .45 guys shoot 1911's. Last year was the first time I participated and the first time the 9mm guys beat the .45 guys! It's a simple marksmanship format, I'd like to think I helped. :)

Welcome to the forum. I'm a big 1911 fan too. You'll hear some of the folks here talk about this Glock thing that seems to be something special, but don't you listen to 'em. :D

How could you say such a thing?! Haha.. just kidding. To each their own. That contest sounds really fun! Obviously i'd be one of those .45 guys. ;) But congrats on your win!
