I have no clue what country this is from, and the upside down V doesn't turn up on any AK markings charts that I've seen. I know it's 7.62, and that's about all.

The marking in the photo is the only marking on the part. What I'm most interested in is country of origin. Any other info you can offer is a bonus.

    Thanks in advance!

My guess is probably an Egyptian made-for-export MISR and someone stamped the "V" upside down for the LOLs. These were letter plus number sequences. Sometimes it was two letters, sometimes one, usually followed by six or seven numerals.

My Hungarian AK63D trunnion looks like that. Four plain rivets up front, two swell heads at the rear. I've got a non-matching kit, but my non-trunnion parts have serial number A 139770. Is it possible that the upside-down V is a poorly-stamped A?

On the AKfiles AK63D trunnion matchup thread, there are many serial numbers "A xxxxxx."

I think that might be it. Found some of the pics! Mine probably just has a worn "A" stamp.

    Thanks.

I checked... Close, but the number font is wrong... also the rear sight tower doesn't have the right markings for Egyptian, though you had no way of knowing that.

    Looks chinese?

Can you measure the barrel hole, barrel pin hole, and measure the lugs?

I have no experience with Chinese AKs, but I thought the Chinese used a different rivet pattern. Not so?

Pics of my 63D trunnion and the s/n on my bolt carrier, fwiw. Unfortunately, I don't seem to have any pics of it after I peeled the receiver scrap off it.
