I am a complete AK noob, but have an AK-47 and AK-74 receiver to build out Thanks to FSA2013. I figure I may as well go NFA. What barrel length and I looking at to keep it > 29" with the standard wood stock?

Couldn't you get new receiver for NFA and use your pre 10/13 for normal evilness?
I'll go measure one of mine in a bit.

11" or could you do 10" with pinned & welded muzzle device?
I measured on polish stock, hopefully someone will give you a definitive answer, I am just a redneck with an ak.

Thanks. Just trying to get a feel for it. I could do new receivers, but I'll be fine with 2 AKs. I'm in this dangerous loop of trying to figure out what to do with receivers, since I got a bunch pre-October. I like to suppress everything so the shorter barrel is preferable. 11" will be good.

I would suggest building 16 inch guns. ypu will never be able to buy one again if you want a short gun you can buy a ak-74u for less then what a parts kit will cost you defienly a no brainer

Something like a AK-104 has a ~12.5" barrel and uses standard furniture and gas tube. Gas block has sight integrated but I think that is the only difference.
