    Yes a butt load cheaper. When I saw the OP's link to the plywood version it made me think of the truck vault. Truck Vault is more expensive and is more than just a wood storage box with a sliding drawer though too. Either way I like what the guy did. Necessity is the Mother of invention so they say.

    The main things with the wood version is to keep it clean and lube the tracks a lot. otherwise I can see the metal rusting and the wood warping quickly!!

    Actually, those skateboard bearings will take some abuse. And, it looks like they'd be easy to replace. I'd probably have included very small wheels in the design, but that looks pretty solid.
