Never ordered anything from them till now and probably will never again. I'm sure they get most of they're stuff spot on but I feel like I'm just getting jerked around.
I ordered a buttstock kit from them online and received an email from them the next day stating that I had ordered two buttstock kits, which wasn't the case. I sent them an email since they're phone business wasn't open at the time stating I wanted to cancel 1 of the orders. They sent an email back that night saying the packages were already shipped...

I then called and explained the situation and the woman from Brownells told me they hadn't shipped yet, that they were on backorder. She cancelled 1 of the orders and told me that although the orders were labelled Backorder, she saw that the stock kits were in stock so she said she bumped me out of backorder and that it would ship in the next day or two.

A week later with no activity from Brownells or my bank account I called again saying that if they didn't have them in stock that I would just cancel my order. I was told then that they had one allocated to my order and that it would be shipped in 1 to 2 days.

That was 3 days ago and again there's no email and they've not taken any money from my acct./charged my card.

Normally I wouldn't care about waiting, but I have all the pieces necessary to build my gun except the stock kit... That and I feel like they've lied to me 3 times about the parts being in stock when they weren't.

I've already ordered the same kit from someone else and on Monday I'm going to call and cancel my order with Brownells. Just wonder if anyone else has gotten jerked around by them?

Never had a problem with Brownells with the few orders I've placed with them, but I do most of my shopping at brick and mortar IP stores.

I'm sure everyone wants their stuff as quickly as possible. I don't see how my posting that I've been told since 2 days after purchase that my stuff would ship out the next day, and hasn't 2 weeks later, would elicit such a post ha...

It'd be like one of your customers calling and asking when you'd be done doing something on his gun, you telling him it'll be ready tomorrow and then blowing him off for 2 weeks.

In my opinion you should never be told the stuff shipped until is has actually shipped. At the earliest when it's boxed w/a tracking number waiting for the shipper to pick up. Maybe that was an automated thing. The original inventory error is on them but they have no control over when a supplier will get them the parts. It can be frustrating but I'd give them another chance. Brownells is a solid operation.

I order stuff online all the time and that type of service is poor by any standard.
I've had an account with Brownells for a couple of years, but only ordered from them a couple of times and didn't have any bad experiences.

I have never had a problem with ordering from them, I ordered 20 P-mags from them on sale in Dec. 2012, they became backordered at the same time, I didn't get them untill July of 2013, but no price hike like most of the other retailers. I still got to them or Midway first.

If it helps. Two years ago I ordered primers, powder, bullets. I still have 3 items pending, of which I requested a year ago to cancel as I found on other sites easily. Last month they shipped an order of powder.

    Morons, they are.

Last week I just got an order of Hornady Superformance .308 I ordered back in January evidently. I forgot I ordered them, and was ready to dispute the charges. Sometimes the delivery lag and forgetfullness don't mesh well.

I ended up cancelling the order with them and going with someone else on the stock kit. It will be here Tuesday.

To update the Brownells issue, I called up this past Monday to let them know I ordered elsewhere and the woman I spoke with was really nice and apologetic. I told her the situation, that they'd been telling me they had it allocated and would be sending the day after the phone call, for two weeks...

She stated that they were in the middle of a warehouse move and that she knew everything, including what's in stock and not in stock, was FUBAR. I wasn't a butthead to her or anything as it had nothing to do with her. I just told her I wasn't going to wait forever for something I could order from someone who really did have it in stock. She understood, cancelled my order and it's all fine now. Doubt I'll be shopping with them again though, first impression and all...

I have dealt with Brownells for MANY years. It is the go to place for many/most gunsmiths.

I have had one problem recently. Seems they updated their software and had a few issues. Nothing major, a phone call straightened it out.

A warehouse move would be a good reason to have things screwed up for a bit.

Don't count them out for future orders.

I put an order in for a replacement pin for a Glock and a LPK for a build I'm doing. I ordered on early Saturday morning and it showed up today, while I was doing some stuff around the house. I've ordered lots of things over the years from Brownell's and had one issues with them and a phone call fixed that problem.

They are very good at what they do and usually have the things you can't find anywhere else. Hell, I got a smoking deal on a Shilen barrel form them. Everybody else wanted 450-500, but I snagged if for a decent amount less.
