And this is surprising? MSP has been doing nonsense like this for a very long time. And on number 6, you'd think they would have a liberal arts major QC anything they publish.

Not sure whether or not to be offended, as a liberal arts major who works in QC.

they dont tackle any of the tough questions in this list, stuff that every dealer in the state has asked about, m&p sports, other brands of hbars, piston rifles..... they could at least mention LWRC piston rifles since they are made in MD.

im sure clandestine alone has asked about more firearms then they have listed as "official".

    and this statement...

" If you are unable to locate your firearm and you have already contacted a firearms dealer and/or the firearm's manufacturer and/or your attorney and have been unable to receive a satisfactory response, you may submit the below form. By submitting this form, you are acknowledging that you have contacted a firearms dealer and/or the firearm's manufacturer and/or your attorney and have not obtained the guidance necessary to make an informed decision."

crazy. the dealers, and manufacturers, and lawyers are confused, thats why they are sueing over this law. and im sure dealers, manufacturers, and lawyers are just going to tell an individual to "ask msp".

That's the rub. MSP will abdicate all responsibility for determining if a firearm is an assault weapon, putting that on the dealers. When it comes time for enforcement, the dealer better have chosen right. I have never seen an industry or regulated entity treated this way.

any dealer or lawyer that knows the history of md gun laws would assume a bushmaster brand hbar was legal.

Correct. MSP will even tell you the legislature intended that the specific Bushmaster pistol and rifle be banned/regulated, but "because the law is worded how it is, they are unable to interpret it any other way than is currently being done."

They say that a shotgun with a folding stock is banned.
They say that a semi auto shotgun with a revolving cylinder is banned.

Aren't non semi shotguns with folding stocks ok?

I need to get my head back into the game. I will see what I can find out.

" The Maryland State Police is responsible for reaching its own conclusions with respect to whether particular firearms are copies of enumerated banned firearms. In reaching those conclusions, the Maryland State Police adheres to the process articulated in the Firearms Bulletin #10-2 dated November 4, 2010 a copy of which may be found on our website. To that end, the Maryland State Police has determined that, for enforcement purposes, a firearm is considered a copy if it is both cosmetically similar to and has completely interchangeable internal components necessary for the full operation and function of one of the enumerated banned weapons. This list represents those determinations.

    It includes weapons that are:
    1. Firearms defined under State law as "assault long guns," including firearms specifically enumerated under § 5-101(r)(2) of the Public Safety Article and their copies.
2.Firearms defined under State law as "assault pistols," including firearms specifically enumerated under § 4-303(c) of the Criminal Law Article and their copies.
    3. Long guns as to which the Department has reached a conclusion with respect to whether they are banned assault long guns or copycat weapons."

On the plus they have officially listed Saiga shotguns as legal. Also I saw no reference to the SIG 556.

The ACR thing is frustrating though.

I saw that too. I haven't been keeping up very well. Is the Sig 556 good to go?

Love the part where they casually mention a grenade launcher attachment in a list of banned addons... as if they were like hotcakes on everyone's AR's prior...

They mention it because it's in the statute. They don't want someone to claim it wasn't listed and therefore not part of the copycat features list..
