Clergy rally for gun safety at Bethesda church

Miller called for clips of no more than 10 bullets.

“I don’t see that we’re going to end gun violence,” Miller said. “But what we want to do is bring the gun level down. Instead of losing 100,000 people, we can reduce it to only a couple hundred people.”

The speakers made it clear they are not opposed to guns in the general public, but want to reduce gun accidents such as suicide, gun trafficking and children playing with loaded guns.

“We are in favor of saving the lives of children and others who cannot help themselves, Howard said. “We need to maim evil and all efforts preventing safety in guns being sold.”

They believe in their own hyperbole, and the Gazette published it unchallenged. Their ignorance could only be maintained by completely disengaging from reality, they are operating in an echo chamber where gun owners don't exist and don't need to be heard or understood. Are they suffering from hatred or arrogance? :sad20:

Will any of their ideas help someone like the little girl who was shot on a playground in DC yesterday?
    No of course not.

You do realize they basically rubber stamped their endorsement of Dumais and Miller in D-15? Right?

If they are serious about the protecting the children, they should get with the NRA and and start having Eddie Eagle PSA's on gun safety. Also get Eddie Eagle material into the schools.

Rockville store’s smart-gun plans spark action

The smart-gun controversy came to a North Bethesda church Thursday, where several clergy members and others rallied against the gun lobby.

The rally was held in response to the pressure brought to bear recently on a Rockville gun retailer who initially planned to sell the 10-round Armatix iP1 smart gun, which can be fired only when the shooter is wearing a special watch or ring with a partnering chip. After receiving what he said were death threats against him and his dog if he sold the gun, co-owner Andy Raymond dropped his plans.

The speakers made it clear they are not opposed to guns in the general public, but want to reduce gun accidents such as suicide, gun trafficking and children playing with loaded guns.

Suicide and gun trafficking are "accidents" huh? Either stellar reporting or mind numbing "logic" from the speaker.

Ugh....that word "clips" makes me twitch every time I hear it. So what is the correlation with a 30, 20 or 10 round magazine and suicide? Gun trafficking is not an accident it's a criminal act. The ratio of children playing with other hazardous substances, or any other act which causes serious harm or death is exponentially greater then accidental discharge with an unsupervised and loaded firearm. We are led by the ignorant indeed. I fear the rapid decline of American intellect and logical reasoning.
