Well, this community is pretty intolerant of anyone who does not agree with it 100 percent. Insulting terms get tossed about in this echo chamber. There are a lot of intelligent people here and I get educated on all things firearms every day, but the insistence on pure conservatism or GTFO gets tiresome. I don't plan on going anywhere any time soon, either.

This community is intolerant of anyone who compromises our Rights. It is a very sensitive subject, and doesn't end at firearms Rights. If you identify as a progressive or a liberal, then your philosophy is one of compromising the fundamental Rights the Country was built on.

It is a shame, because he could be very effective in his community. But, in order for us to truly understand a situation, we cant have our heads in the sand about who is causing harm to our cause, even if we want to like them.

The two problems with leftists—virtually all of them—that make them unreliable partners in any honourable and righteous endeavor are: 1) their politics are ever-evolving, so you can never rely on them to keep their word (since it was given yesterday and today is, after all, another day....); and 2) theirs is a binary ethos. That is, you either support the entire party line or you don't. And if you don't, you're the enemy. And it's the same whether they're democratic socialists, national socialists (NAZIs), Islamic-socialists or communist socialists. Their core principals, such as they are, remain steadfast only for as long as it takes for the political winds of fashion to shift.

So did it go down like, Norton please BAN me? If so, I rescind my prior desire for him to return.

Well, this community is pretty intolerant of anyone who does not agree with it 100 percent.

I've found that when I don't agree with the comments I try to understand them, eventually realised why I was wrong and over the years they have helped me focus my energy where it will do the most good. I have yet to see the mainstream attitude of this site lead someone astray for the 'good and honorable' side of life.

This community is intolerant of fools who continue to push an unworthy / mentally deficient agenda with the membership.

I do not have anything else to say on this subject except, "majority rules."

And, here's hoping that a majority of the CA4 agrees with last week's panel decision.

    Cheers.

Thank you. I take that to mean that it is optional for those who are retiree's, since it is only mandatory for those who wish to maintain their LEOSA credentials. There is no mandatory training or annual requalification for military retiree's either. Private citizens are now required to take a mandatory "training/qualification" course in order to obtain an HQL. For that reason, I believe that the law fails the equal protection test.

Nice argument... if not for the fact that any training required of the private citizen is woefully short of training that LEOs and Military Members have recieved by the time they leave the boot camp or academy.

So, the EP argument would fail in court. The weeks of training completed in the academy or boot camp are far greater than the hours required of the private citizen.

For years, City of University Park Police officers didn't have to attend an academy.

As well as OC police officers. Of course most were Part Time.

Not mandatory if you own a regulated weapon already. (buy a stripped AR lower, no training needed ;))

I am fully aware of the exceptions, thank you.

Actually, unless the service member is/was a member of some sort of Spec. Ops. type unit, military training is not as intensive as most would think. They receive a class on the weapon to learn it's features/operation, shoot it on the firing range for qualification and then rarely if ever shoot it again until time to re-qualify with it. Re-qualification is supposed to happen once per year but, is often postponed until well after that time frame.
It's not much different than training courses offered to civilians. The overwhelming majority of us who have served have received the exact same level of training, while in the military, as those who stayed in until retirement.

Even the most minimal of military training is still far more than that which is required of Maryland citizens for the HQL.

My biggest bitch about the requirement is simple... IF Maryland is going to require the training... Then they should provide it at cost to all who wish to avail themselves of it. And a certificate should be given to those who pass the training, stating that they have succeeded and are certified by the MDSP.

True since FSA 2013 did not establish training standards. My primary argument is that, those of us who did not stay until retirement received the same training and we did not receive the same standard, under the law, as those who did. BTW, you only have to hit 23 out of 40 to pass qualification.

I am in 100% agreement with the second statement. I doubt anything like that would happen due to the potential for liability suits though.

My State Senator is am man I have known, for much of my life. We a members of the same church. He is a Democrat, but seemed a very reasonable person. He is a Veteran, and received a Bronze Star in Desert Storm. When FSA2013 came about, it was so ridiculous and out there, I thought there was no way he could support it.

When questioned about why he would support such an abomination, he stated that the "church" wanted him to do so, for victim's rights.

I haven't been able to speak to him since.

Nobody here cares what you call yourself, only whether you vote to keep or put those in office who will work against the Second Amendment. In this state, that is ALL democrats. The most outspoken of them call themselves "Liberals", so we take them at their word. You got a problem which what they call themselves, take it up with them.

    BTW, Welcome to the forum.

That would be Doug, right? He seems to be a decent guy, but he tends to cloister himself with interest groups. I once asked him when he would throw a town hall so we could discuss issues like taxes and 2A. He came back with an HOA meeting in Mitchellville.

I think he sold out. :mad54:
