From anywhere in the house, under 30 seconds. Much faster than that on the second floor where I'm most likely to be hanging out if anything ever goes bump in the night here at casa radial.

Many of you have gotten better.

Point of this little exercise is to 'plan' (make a goal) about your level of readiness to confront a lethal threat in your home. 'do' the drill. Check how you actually did, make adjustments till you achieve your goal. Act, rehearse periodically.

My firearm would take about 20-30 sec. My main defense - our Jack Russell terrier would probably give me that time because if someone came in at night, they would have about 15lbs of trouble on them. That dog has jaws that I'm sure can break bones. He also thinks he owns the house, so I pity the fool who comes in.

If it's pressed against my forehead, less than a tenth of a second.:ninja:

Three floor townhouse. One on top floor, one on bottom floor. I would say I could get to one or the other in 15 seconds.

10 seconds. I live in a 3 level house and I have a firearm "stashed" on each level. There are no children at home.
Frequently I''ll have a 1911 on my hip.

Until several years ago, I didn't much think about this, until a friend gave me this advice. He actually said he keeps a long gun and a pistol on each level of his house. Kinda like the advice to keep a fire extinguisher/smoke-detector (or two) on each level of your house. Makes sense. I've sense mounted a fire extinguisher in my kitchen, and on the rail by the stairs in the basement. I keep those new, small cans of Tundra fire extinguishers around.
