That rifle is WAY overrated. The 500+ ft/lbs is only achieved when shooting a super heavy slug at really low velocities. I've shot a couple of them and in my opinion they're not worth the $$$$.

Exactly where I want to be
Only if you don't use the adjustment wheel. This rifle puts the SOME in AWESOME! Went through both sides of a cinder block from 30 yrds away with a 285gr round I made. No doubt it would go well over 100 yards with the right bullet.

Nope even using the adjustment wheel you will not get the claimed 500ft/lbs without a massive slug lobbed in at 800fps at best. It's a cool gun but at 48" long and $1000 I'd save my money and get something else.

    C.Alls,

I have been looking at the Texan, Bulldog, and other large bore air rifles. I played with the bulldog some and don't like that the hammer noise is right under my ear, it's loud. You say the Texan isn't good and I know you like Hoag's guns since you own a couple but those are out of my price range. You are probably talking about $2000 once all said and done. I don't like that the Texan is long and from what I can see the breach is kind of different. What gun can you get at $1000 that will do what the Texan will do?

I'd avoid the Texan like the plague. Just recently a lot of the owners started experiencing a loss in accuracy and these are guys who are known good shots and have a lot of lead down range. It's not something you'll find a lot of information on because everyone praised the gun and now some of them are having issues that they've yet to find the remedy for and they just aren't talking about it yet.

For a gun in the $1000 price range I'd either try to get on Quakenbushes list or give it a month and get a Badger .401. They're looking like a solid rifle that isn't going to break the bank ($800) and will make a true 400ft/lbs with a reasonable weight bullet at 900+fps. Supposedly Dan from XP airguns has his hands in this project which is a good thing. I will probably own one as soon as they're available so I can start tuning and figuring out what spring it needs for lower fill pressures and better efficiency.
