Spent a weekin Ohioand stopped by the CMP store. They did not have a lot, but had one Field Grade M1. It was a Springfield and the date code is June 1942. It is a 640xxx serial number. Got it home and a friend took it apart and it seems it is almost all complete dated parts. He said very unusual for a field grade gun. Took it out to MG and was surprised at the accuracy of a 72 year old rifle. No adjstments or anything and put about 30 shots in the black at 100 yards. Sweet shooting rifle. Now to see if I can find a 1903 Springfield.

I foudn out that when you visit CMP stores, Garands tend to follow you home. :)

I had two shipped back from the South store this past spring. One is an M1D. :)
