Heads up. Keep an eye on the trigger guard pivot pin. If it shows any sign of walking out while you're shooting, you'll want to loc-tite it in place. I think it's extremely unlikely.

Read down to the second page of this thread:

... three rounds into the final magazine, the slide blew off, springs went flying, the trigger guard fell off, total and complete meltdown.
and on the next page

I got a '66 from J&G and probably came close to what happened with you the first time I shot it. I actually caught the pin walking out while shooting. Every three rounds or so it would start popping out. I ended up showing my gunsmith it and he put a dab of a lock-tite type chemical on it. He says he has seen this a lot with these guns???

That site is a good resource, by the way.

Finally brought my P64 home yesterday, and swapped out the hammer spring last night. The 18 lb spring from Wolff makes all the difference in the world: the pistol was virtually unusable with the original spring.

Anyway, here are some pictures to make it official.

1. ??? Foot?

2. It's a Springfield "Loaded". I really like the grips; I think they're cocobolo.
I replaced the full length guide rod with a GI guide rod and plug. I also want to replace the trigger with a short trigger (I have small hands).
I have a GI trigger around here somewhere. Not sure if I should use that or find a commercial trigger.
Also not sure if I should do it myself, or have it done by a 1911 smith.

Looks great!!! (except the foot) You took great pics. I haven't had the chance to shoot mine yet, it was raining last week. Hopefully this week I can make it to the range. I'm going to try the orginal spring, if I don't like it i'll do the switch too.

Range Report

Great day to go to the range. Mids 60's and t-shirt weather. Anyway here's a range report for my Pole P-64. I've had it for a month and its my first chance to get to the range. I shot from a distance of 10 yds and 12 yds (36') and I found this gun to be very accurate. I think this may be more accurate than my Glocks....not bad for a small former Polish military pistol.

In the first pic, all but one round was fired in SA. The DA is marked and all the remaining shots today were in SA only. There is an extremely heavy DA pull as you can see by the first target. THe P-64 offers are very tight group for something so small. I used Silver Bear 94 gr. JHP and there was not a single issue. The 9x18 Mak is a small round that packs a great little punch. But with a small steel constructed pistol, I found the pistol to be very snappy and gives a good pinch to the hand. If you have bigger hands, be careful that the slide doesn't take a bite from your hand, fortunately taht wasn't an issue but it was for a buddy of mine who emptied a mag (ouch).

Overall.....an excellent pistol for $149.95, ammo is affordable ($7/50 rds Russian ammo) and perfect for CCW.

Nice shooting, FPS! Looks really good.

I still haven't had mine out yet: I was shooting rifles yesterday. Hopefully I can slip down to the pistol range this weekend.

I was wondering though: have you replaced the original hammer spring with something a bit more civilized? I put in a Wolff 18 pounder first thing, and it makes a big difference.

I have no plans on making an mods to this one. If anything I'll get a set of grips for it. I'm a "collector" and just want to keep it in the original cond. The trigger pull is VERY LIGHT in SA. You really don't need an external safety since the DA pull is so heavy (I hate safety's anyway). I'll probably jsut shoot it in SA only, you see where the DA pull when

Enjoy! and LMK on your hammer spring.
