If you put the hole in the right place it's doesn't matter what you use, people killed elephants with pointy sticks for thousands of years. Steel case ammo will wear out your 15 cent extractor quicker than brass...but pay for itself after the first shot. Things I'm selling: several OEM spec saiga-12 5rnd mags from keepshooting, $20. 85 rounds polish x54r.
