What's in YOUR wallet?

Greetings All,

Among my other gun-related activities, I'm president of the Twelfth Precinct Pistol and Archery Club, in Harwood MD. I recently applied to the bank where we've had our account for (ever?) a long time for a credit card for one of our trustees, and was told that it was against their policy to "extend credit to gun and shooting clubs"

The bank? None other than the Bank of America - recipient of $45 Billion ($25B of TARP money, then an additional $20B bailout).

Wouldn't it have been nice if the bank that took so many of our tax dollars was interested in supporting those businesses that support the responsible exercise of our Constitutional Rights?

We're changing banks next Tuesday - right afte Monday night's board meeting.

All the best,
Rob Weaver

I am in the process of REFI the house and tod them all a go but I want it written into my contract the BOA can"t own my mortgage. they said none has ever asked that so they have to go and check.

had a BOA CC for 19yrs. limit was at 30K and I was never late once. I would run it up to 20k and pay it off after family trips and such. they decided to raise my rate to 26.8% one month for no reason. they would lower it so i paid it off and put it in the safe. F them bastards

I canceled all of my BOA credit cards when 1 they lowered my credit limit by half and then wouldnt raise it back, and two they took the bailout. I have a credit score of 805 middle, never late, never over limit. I spend well over $50k on credit cards a year between business and personal use. My Chase United Miles card and Corporate AMEX rewards get all of my card transactions now. BOA called and I told them to f-off

Well, since the G can now tell corporations that they gave money to how much they can pay their execs, I suggest we write RKBA-friendly members of Congress and tell them to tell BOA that they can't discriminate against people who exercise their 2A rights. Not that you should give these f's another nickle, because they were openly courting illegal alien business in addition to this crap but it would be fun to see whoever wrote this policy get screwed with.

Could they provide that in writing?

No harm in telling the NRA. (Not that they'd do anything...)

I wonder what the reaction would be if this was posted on the major national boards?

I would recommend to try the Pentagon federal credit union, check how you may join it
https://www.penfed.org/howToJoin/overview.asp
you can join the NMFA for $20 (one time fee).
I switched to them about one year ago after Chase started to change their conditions.

Citi- Not bad. I was late with 2 payments when I was in between jobs, they raised my rate but after I pleaded with them, they lowered the rate again.

Discover-I just don't like them

BOA-profidious bastards but I do like their ATMS.

State Employees Credit Union: (Check card) Rude ass bastards. THey had this deal where if you bought GAP on your car, and it got totaled, and you got a new loan with them, you got 1000 dollars. Boy did they do alot to try to not approve me. Treated my mom very rudely.

Chase: Don't hate them but don't love them.

Wells Fargo: (check card) Good bank but not able to do deposits at Wachovia yet.

a quick google turned this up:
Quote:
Bank of America has now arbitrarily decided, like Citibank before it, that it will not provide merchant services to any firearm-related business. Citibank finally rescinded that stupid tyranny after half the people in this country raised hell and threatened to close their accounts and the same groundswell of opinion must be brought to bear against Bank of America...
http://www.tysknews.com/Articles/banks.htm

and then this ironic address for an BOA ATM on "Gun Club Road":
Quote:
The Bank of America ATM at 6220 S Gun Club Rd in AURORA, CO, makes it easy to check balances and withdraw cash.
http://locators.bankofamerica.com/lo...nch_locations/

and then this unrelated nonsense:
Quote:
...A South Carolina Bank of America branch is drawing criticism Thursday after an employee reportedly ordered the removal of American flags placed to honor a fallen Marine over fears that people would be offended.
The Palmetto Scoop received one eyewitness email claiming that the branch manager at Bank of America’s Gaffney branch at 1602 West Floyd Baker Blvd. “told a citizen who was preparing the route for a U.S. Marine killed in action in Afghanistan by placing small American flags along the roadway that the flags might upset some of her customers.”
Said the outraged tipster, “[The branch manager] took them down and made the citizen go in to get them if she didn’t want them thrown away.”
The flags were part of the funeral procession of Lance Corporal Christopher Fowlkes, 20, who died last week after an explosion in Afghanistan’s Helmand province...

I haven't been happy with BOA's management of my AAA credit card for some time and this might just be the reason to kick it to the curb.

The only reason I've kept it this long is that they roll the rewards into certificates that we use to pay our AAA dues every year. I haven't paid more than $10 a year for AAA in years.

So, if Navy FCU issues a card, they have complete control over it with no interference from the banks like BOA or Citi?

That's correct. FCUs are not banks. Their goal is a satisfaction of all members, not a profit per se. That's why banks hates FCUs. Their customer service can be not perfect, but in terms of fees they are much better than banks.

Big thumbs up for NFCU. Their mortgage department gave me a rather large headache at the 11th hour, but other than that, you can't beat their rates and their customer service. Their rewards program could be a tad better, but it beats doing business with the likes of BOA.

You may want to also check other local credit unions. Tower FCU, NASA FCU (Hmm, I wonder how many transactions does the ATM on the moon get?) and NIH FCU seem to be good choices and are Maryland based financial insitutions. Some offer business accounts- I know that NASA FCU and SECU does.

If you go to the NCUA website, you can find a nearby credit union: http://www.ncua.gov/DataServices/FindCU.aspx

Interesting. Bass Pro Visa card is BOA. Last I checked, they are a "firearms related" business.........

Maybe our resident BP employee can ask the manager about this. I'd bet flak from a chain as large as BP might give BOA somehing to ponder.

Guys, NRA issues credit cards through the 1st National Bank of Omaha. I have one, though I don't use it as much as I used to, I've NEVER had a problem.

Another for Navy Fed. I haven't had a bank account for as long as I can remember. Credit unions are the way to go.
We had a Chase visa for many years then they upped my interest rate(ALOT) for no reason. I called them the day I was notified and asked why. The reason was because the market rates were climbing and they had to in order to compete. I threw a BS flag then told them they can continue to compete without me.
