I am starting this thread to post my results of loads I try good or bad for the 300 BLK. and everyone is welcome and encouraged to add load data from there 300 Blackout load results.

My 300 Blackout is built on a Spikes Forged Upper and Lower receiver with a RRA Chrome BCG and Wilson Combat 16" SS Match Grade Barrel.

First I wanted to try some 110 Hornady SP Bullets. Wanted a good cheap round to shoot and even hunt with. I wanted to hopefully get 2400 FPS out of it with minimal signs of pressure and good accuracy is a must. First i just wanted to find what loads would keep me in between 2300 and 2400 FPS no accuracy test until i find the load range I have to work with. I will be doing this with almost every .308 bullet available from 110 to 165 grains and will post results on this page as I go.

This took place on 8/4/11 at 80F and 60% Humidity

Hogdon H110 Powder loaded in PMC .223 brass sized by Lee 300 Blackout dies over Tula NCSR-223 primers. Hornady 110 SP bullets OAL 2.00

I tried 21.5 grains but only shot one round very flat primmer it ran 2454 fps but I will pull the rest apart to hot for me . I will load up 6 round each with 19.8, 20, 20.2, 20.5 grains of H110 they should all be above 2300 fps and see witch one holds the tightest groups.

WARNING! SOME LOADS IN THIS THREAD MAY EXCEED RECOMMENDED CHAMBER PRESSURE FOR THE 300 BLACKOUT. DESPITE MY BRASS AND RIFLE NOT SHOWING ANY SIGNS OF EXTREME PRESSURE, YOUR RESULTS MAY VARY. IF YOU CHOOSE TO REPRODUCE THESE LOADS, DO SO AT YOUR OWN RISK

I posted this before, but am reposting for those interested.

I loaded up some Hornady 208gr Amax bullets with Reloader 7 in the Blackout and shot them at the range, today.

I loaded 11.0gr, 10.5gr, 10.0gr, 9.5gr, and 9.0gr of Reloader 7 with a COAL of 2.20" and Remington 7 1/2 primers. I only ended up shooting the 11.0gr and 10.5gr (with subsonics, you work from the top load), because the others would have been too slow, with a target speed of 1000fps. The brass was once-fired, resized with Forester dies, and trickled to the exact 1/10th of a grain. All rounds cycled fine with a pistol gas setup.

The 11.0gr of Reloader 7 had an average speed of 1013.4fps with a standard deviation of 21.97 and an extreme spread of 46fps (n=10), and the 10.5gr was average speed of 997.0fps with an SD of 29.3fps and and extreme spread of 73.5 (n=10). For subsonic work, it looks like the 11.0gr is the winner.

Looking forward to your results. I want to start reloading when i get the funds. Are you going to suppress it at any point?

I am going to get a Suppressor hopefully by next year. But will probably build a 11" SBR version for that purpose as well. I built this rifle for supersonic rounds to hunt deer with in the mountains and probably will go on a few hog hunts with me as even though I have my 450 Bushmaster for hogs. There are so many .308 bullets out there and I plan to find the best combo for my rifle. I have a 6.8 that I love but this round really caught my attention because it was .308 caliber.

BenL thank for reposting your load

interesting...I have a lower that is still bare but want to eventually build up with a 300 BLK upper and find good subsonic and supersonic loads, so it's good to see someone else is playing with the round.

It will take a while to do but at least once a week I will be testing a load and as I get more brass made up I will testing at least 2 different bullets a week. I have already loaded up more 110 Hornady for accuracy testing and I have some Barnes 110 TTSX loaded I will be testing for accuracy and Velocity at the same time with them 3 shoot groups not 5 they are a little on the expensive side. In the end for a good hunting round I hope to be using a 110 or 125 grain Barnes bullet but like I said before I will be trying many bullets over the next years time to find whats best for my rifle and how far/fast I can really push this round :D.

Are these better than the Foresters that first came out? I believe there was known issues with the first sets, from what I have read elsewhere. I have been trying to keep up with the development of this before I commit to a custom bolt gun.Already have the action(s), Rem 700's one 17 fireball, the other .223.

I have one of the newer runs of dies from Forester (Bench Rest Dies), and they work great.

I just loaded up some Frangible M-160 110 Grain bullets for my blackout I do not expect them to be real accurate but they are a very cheap bullet I can load and shoot for less. They cost $63 shipped for 1000 of them. I had to load light because you supposed to keep them under 2000fps so we will see. I am told also they create big explosions on fruit and water jugs :D.

    DSCN6629.jpg

A update on the 125 Sierra Pro Hunters they shot very well I got them to run at 2300fps with little signs of pressure so I am very happy with that.
