Tapcos aren't unreliable, they're just more prone to failing if you put a lot of stress on them (ie, smashing them against cover, dropping your rifle mag-first, etc.).

I have one in 5.45x39. Excellent rifle all around, and better than the WASRs people keep comparing it to.

The mag cap is a gun control law that is very, very susceptible to challenge. Gansler's paper on why SB281 is somehow "constitutional" basically devolved into hand-waving on the subject, and relied...

There are supposedly five transferable AA-12s out there... they may as well not exist.

To be fair, the USAS-12 has a 20+rd drum, and you can get a semi-auto version of that, too. The drums are...

Saiga 12 is the only one that can do it that I'm aware of. I've heard varying stories about converting S12 drums to the VEPR 12 platform, but I don't think I've seen a commercial solution yet.

The...

If I have to resort to a cheat sheet, I may as well just use mil-dot.

Also, I was not so impressed with their app - no loads for Wolf 7.62x39? Really?

I think I've seen someone put a drum on the AIA M10, too.

I went with a 24" MVP myself; it's a bench gun for me, so I figured I may as well go big. I'm using 30rd M2 pmags, 20rd Lancer AWMs, and...

Agreed. If I were replacing a worn BCG with a new one, I'd spring for NiB, but a properly-lubed AR will run fine for a long, long time without magic coatings on the BCG.

I am going to guess the OP meant "SVT", not "SVD". A PSL is ~$1100 these days... a real Dragunov is probably 5x that.

Might I also suggest a VEPR 54r?

I agree with rob-cubed... give it more gas. Or use an auto-plug. Who knows how the current plug setting is covering the ports?

I had problems with short-stroking specifically with a drum, FYI.

The MR1 has somewhat more uptake in some ban states; it's too new to be a named rifle, it comes in a feature-less version, and it takes AR-15 mags.

Yes, both would be legal.

It's not immediately clear to me whether the pistol version would be an assault pistol or not, especially post-October-1 when the copies clause goes away.
