View Full Version : Lead Balloon Shoot Wednesday Sept 21...

A new shooting event from FreeState Gun Range on September 21 at 6:30PM and 7:30PM. Shooters attempt to break six balloons in the fewest shots. The balloons are arranged in three pairs; the balloons in each pair are touching. Therefore, it is possible to shoot and break two balloons in one shot making the lowest possible score to be three shots. Each shooter kicks $5 into the pot. Best score splits the pot. Shoot any handgun, any sight, any caliber.

Come test your shooting skills. You will have a great time and meet other shooters.

Sign up begins at 5:00PM for the 6:30 shoot. The second shoot will begin at 7:00PM.

Lead Balloon = zinc dirigible, derigibles are bad when they explode.

So much for shooting 6 balloons with 3 shots. It was a ton of fun though.

Free State Gun Range held a new, novelty event, that was well attended.
Two relays were shot last evening. The first one at 30 feet, and the second
one at 50 feet. Many hit all 6 balloons, but only one did it in less than 6 shots.
The winners of each relay are shown below.

6:30 pm Match
1st—Robert S.---6 hits/6 shots
2nd—Xuan F.---6 hits/6 shots
3rd—Kevin Sr.---6 hits/6 shots
7:30pm Match
1st—Robert S.---6 hits/5 shots
2nd—Steve Sr.---6 hits/6 shots
3rd—Kevin Sr. and Steve Jr.---6 hits/7 shots.
Next week ( Sept. 28 ) will be the Poker match. Details to follow.

Dammit, handguns only? I was thinking my AR could do some balloon carnage. Maybe a .357 magnum could pop them with the concussion.
