Searched but can not locate threads on this subject. As I recall, there was discussion about a MD resident with a current C&R having to process a C&R handgun purchase in MD via a standard FFL as if it were a restricted handgun. Can anyone enlighten me and cite the reference? I am interested in this weeks Antique Arms show in Timonium but don't want to waste the time it the above is true. I can find nothing in the literature the BATF sent with the C&R.

Current understanding seems to be that if you wanted to buy the C&R handgun withinin MD you have to either go through the state police, or through a MD regulated firearms dealer (an FFL with a MD dealers license).
Now this is something I never thought about before, but theoretically if the person at the gun show is from out of state, you could possibly wait until they are back home and buy it from them with your C&R that way and have it shipped to you. It would still be quicker than the seven day wait in most cases.

Thanks,
That's what I have "assumed" (really bad word) and what you say makes scense (spell check off), but I would never trust something said over the telephone by anyone
Appreciate the fast response. The letter helps a great deal in validating this situation. :)

Selling handguns? I would probably say zero at regular gun shows, but I think there used to be a few selling long guns at the Upper Marlboro show years ago.
I am not familiar with antique and collectible gun shows so as far as I know there may be a few out of state dealers or private citizens here and there legally selling C&R handguns. Not likely though, I admit.

So your saying pretty much....the C&R permit is really only good for out of state transactions if u want to not have the 7day hold.

Basically, yes. Out of country C&R handgun purchases imported to MD too, but I am not sure how long customs will hold a handgun on its way in.

C&R is also good for internet gun purchasing.
