Definitely interested Tom. My duties at work are expanding and this is perfect timing. Of course my agency won't be helping with tuition because of the economy, and out going political figure, so the sooner I know the date the sooner I can make plans.

I thought both your wives said you two weren't allowed to play together after that last "belt grabbing" exercise. It was all perfectly innocent - we understand. It just looked questionable that's all.

;-)

I'd love to do this but I need to get through the handgun and carbine courses first. Sounds like a blast.

As a relative newbie, I still need more basic training in both handguns and rifles. This course sounds terrific, however. If I had the prerequisites out of the way, I would be very interested.

Tom,

You talk in the course description about shooting from concealment, etc. Would you recommend that we bring a concealment as well as a drop holster, and would you recommend we either have sport jacket/blazers or rain gear so that we can cover draw from concealment?

Tom - If you don't mind me asking, why are drop leg holsters "preferred?"

Tom Perroni

Tom - If you don't mind me asking, why are drop leg holsters "preferred?"

The most important reason is that is how you would carry your secondary (Handgun) weapon in a PSD detail.

Why?

Most operators are wearing a plate carrier with soft armor and ceramic plate’s front and rear. This carrier also holds (On my Kit) My M4 mags, Blow-out kit, radio pouch, smoke, grenade pouch, pistol mags, etc.

If you are wearing this gear having your handgun on your belt would make it difficult if not impossible to draw correctly and get the handgun into the fight quickly. With a Drop Leg Holster and the handgun on your dominate leg you can draw your handgun un-impeded.

Now this brings up another point most people DO NOT wear their leg (Thigh) holster correctly. I often see it too far down on the leg. It may also make it uncomfortable to wear and allow the holster to slide and flop around on your leg. Ideally, this holster should drop down to just below your belt line. It should be adjusted so that you do not need to bend at the waist to draw your handgun.

Hope this helps!

Yeah, Tom, I know. You told me during our last class that mine was too low and I gave some kind of half-assed answer why I had it down there. I tried it again after I got home.

It really was too low.

When you tell me something, I should know enough to just say, "Yes, sir," and shut the f___ up.

I've shortened it about three inches.

8- 10 class limit sounds like a great opportunity to get some extremely focused training.

How many do you have confirmed? maybe we need a running list of attendees.

Tom - I'm probably in for Tac HG 1 and 2 in Feb - I won't be taking the Tac Carbine course until April (I think that's when KAC - Kevin set it up for)

So I won't have the carbine course in before this High Threat course. Bummer. Maybe I can catch the next one.
