Looks like Fred Thompson is in the running, or will be shorty. What does everyone think about Fred?

The second amendment force is strong with this one.

That is great news! I love that guy!

Fred is the only guy that I would vote for. When he talks he is clear and on target. He makes his points and backs up his facts. No other choice IMHO.

He seems to be the only one I'd vote for without reservation. Call me cynical but I don't think he has a chance in hell until the conservative majority in this country gets hungry.
I have also been impressed with the Constitution Party candidates in the past, they have the right idea for the country, back to the basics.

Fred Thompson's statements, that he will govern using the constitution (as written) as his guide, has my attention. :)

Has he read the Federalist papers?

I am looking for a candidate to vote "For"!

My list of candidates to vote against is already quite long! :sad20:

Fred is your man! He has my vote.

My only concern is that the American Health Care System is broken, I do want a presidential candidate that will change our health care systems. I don't want to depend on the goverment for my medical care, but I also don't want to depend on my employer.

To tell the truth I would love to quit my job and start my own company, but I can't because of health insurance. For me, our nations health care system is denying me my American Dream.

This is good, I like him and I've also heard a lot of what Ron Paul has to say. It's refreshing to see candidates other than those in the mainstream. I'm a registered Democrat, but Hillary and Obama make me want to puke. Until I see a solid candidate from EITHER party that is for less government (really), and supports our rights (all of them) as delineated in the Constitution, no one is getting my vote.

Fred is the 800lb Gorilla in the room...literally and figuratively......

He's a really big guy with big presence....scares the crap out of Obama and Billary.

He's got the right approach on most of the things that REALLY matter to me...Constitution..specifically 2A...Smaller Gov't, Close the border etc etc etc.

Run Fred Run!

I was excited to see him on the front of USA Today and scanned the article real quick, then let out a triumphant "YES!". He has my vote and I'm gonna try and press my conservative friends into voting for him.

Will those from the left vote for him ? I doubt it . Next time you see a Hillary sound bite on the tube look at the back drop " Sharing the Prosparity " other wise all you middleclass and upperclass working stiffs hand us your money and we'll give to the poor for you .

at last there is a candidate that I can totally support without feeling guilty that I am compromising some of my values in support of the big picture.

He's somebody I could vote FOR. I don't like Rudy but against Hillera.......I'd vote holding my nose. Fred is exactly what I want. Visualize for a moment Fred walking across the stage to shake hands with Hillera before a debate. I think it would be over before it started.

I would vote for Fred Thompson. He's a little on the conservative side, but I think he's really what this country needs right now. Someone to hold up the Constitution and remind everyone that "this" is what it is all about. Small government. Personal responsibility. Freedom. It's a very simple idea that I think has been lost in the last 20 years.

Fred can win. He has to come down hard on Bush's management of the war, and not in his normal drawn out southern way... He has got to make it very clear that he thinks Bush's war policy has been a complete failure, that the State department, and the Defense Department screwed up big time, and not only admit that we can not defeat the insurgency on our own, but demand French and Germany, along with Russia and Japan, along with Egypt, Kuwait, UAE, and Saudi Arabia help us stabilize the world oil reserves.

I think that approach will beat the Dems pull out and leave the mess behind strategy.

Next, he has to communicate that fact that the Bush tax cuts worked, that our tax revenue is at record high levels, and capitalize on the growth of our GDP over the last 6 years.

And health care. I don't know how to fix health care, but he sure better. Health care is destroying our countries ability to compete on the global market. Health care has made me a slave to my job. I would much rather work for myself, and provide my own health care insurance than work at this job making money for someone else, but I just can't afford the insurance.

I think, if he can win the republican nomination, it shouldn't be to much of a challenge for him. He has zero baggage to explain or over come to the conservative base, and he has the speaking ability to sell his views. He will need to make his stance on abortion and gay marriage more main stream, which I think it is, as long as he can keep Billary/Obamma from distorting his message. (States should solve these issues, not the Feds)

He has my vote

No actually...

"If you took Chuck Norris, Jack Bauer, Optimus Prime, a .50 caliber Desert Eagle, a samurai sword, nachos, the lobby scene from the move Matrix, the computer game Doom, and a DVD set of the complete A-Team series and somehow took all their awesomeness and compressed into one thing, you'd still only have something half as awesome as what Fred Thompson flushes down the toilet after taking a crap."

Jack Bauer is a mother**ing gangster. I have finally started watching 24 (got the first season for my mom for Mother's Day). That guy is awesome.

Back on topic, I may vote for Fred or Ron Paul. I WILL vote for either WITHOUT A DOUBT, if Hillary or Obama make it to the "finals".

I agree mostly with what Ron Paul says about everything, except a few issues (don't want to discuss). But for the most part, he's on the money.

It's funny, on some of the tin foil hat forums I lurk on they are hating on Fred big time as another neo-con puppet. I like Dr. Paul as much as the next guy, but he's got zero chance.

So far Fred is saying things I like.

I'm all for Fred. I'm afraid though what we're about to see is the biggest smear campaign in the history of Republican Party politics now that he's officially in The Game. I think that's part of the reason Fred Thompson put this off until the last minute. Rudy the Ghoul is a ruthless New York politician, he and his entourage will not hesitate to use any dirty trick in the book to destroy someone's reputation and name if they look like a threat to his primary victory. And Thompson is already, within days of forming his committee, being called the toughest competition Giuliani will have.

Thompson's biggest worry is not Hillary, Barack Hussein Obama, or even Al Bore (if he should enter the race). It's his own party members.
